CD–ROM’s, Screensavers & Desktop Applications (Flash & Zinc driven)

Flash is driven by Actionscript, a powerful and sophisticated programming language. Many are misled in thinking its sole use is for the web, but it is also a powerful tool for desktop applications. Where Flash falls down in developing desktop apps is in its inability to deal with the users system (opening or saving of files for example). That’s where Zinc comes in.

Zinc is developed by MDM and provides Flash with the capabilities to interact fully with the computer it is running on. It has its own language MDM script which enables anything from file management, communicating with a database to running an external video file.

Together, Flash and Zinc are a powerhouse allowing digitalZest to develop CD–ROM’s, desktop or kiosk applications and screensavers for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms!
